Together, We Lead
Jimmy R. Myers, Jr., CMC, CGFM (Retired), is a seasoned local government leader with more than four decades of public service in Central Florida. A graduate of Nova University in Fort Lauderdale with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Management, he also attended Lake-Sumter Community College and earned a Diploma in Computer Careers from the Computer Learning Center in Fairfax, Virginia. Jimmy currently serves as Executive Director of the Lake County/Heartland League of Cities, a role he has held since 2004. His distinguished career with the City of Eustis spans 30 years, where he served as Finance Director from 2007 to 2015, Interim City Manager in 2007, and previously as Finance Director/City Clerk from 1977 to 2007.
Throughout his career, Jimmy has been actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the International City/County Management Association, Government Finance Officers Association, International Institute of Municipal Clerks, and several Florida-based municipal and finance associations. He is a Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) and a Certified Government Finance Manager (CGFM), designations reflecting his expertise in municipal administration and public finance. His contributions to the profession have been widely recognized, including being named 2008 City Finance Official of the Year by the Florida League of Cities and receiving the Leader of Distinction Award from the Leadership Lake County Alumni Association. In 2014, he was recognized by the International City/County Management Association for forty years of local government service. Born in Woodstock, Virginia, Jimmy moved to Eustis, Florida in 1974 and recently relocated to Leesburg. He and his wife, Laura Anne Harney, share four daughters and remain deeply connected to the Lake County community.
